Wairarapa teams are being offered the chance to participate in the 2012 New Zealand Junior Rugby festival to be held in Taupo on September 22 and 23 and Queenstown on October 29 and 30.
A touring South African under-13 side from Cape Town has joined a host of Kiwi clubswho have already confirmed their entries.
Organiser Tyrone Campbell says spots remain open for at least a couple of Wairarapa sides.
Campbell stresses the JRF is for all kids playing junior rugby, not only representative players.
"The tournament is not just about winning and losing, it's about the whole experience. The camaraderie, singing, laughing and ribbing that takes place on the bus trip, rooming with your teammates and having the time of their lives; it's just a good old-fashioned rugby tour."
The festival has strong values with a huge focus on enjoyment and sportsmanship, along with promoting the right messages, which is why Campbell has declined sponsorship from fast food outlets.
In three previous festivals over 2300 youngsters from 112 teams and 19 unions have taken part and Campbell is determined to make the 2012 edition the best ever.
Rugby legend, Sir Colin Meads, has given the tournament his blessing.
"Giving Kiwi kids a taste of a positive sporting event will deliver long-term benefits both on and off the field. I believe this will help to grow grassroots rugby in New Zealand," Sir Colin said.
