Fatal house fire possible arson

A fire which killed a woman in the south Auckland suburb of Papatoetoe last night may have been deliberately lit.

The woman was found dead in the two-storey house in Birdwood Ave by firefighters.

Fire safety officers were at the extensively damaged house soon after first light today and were looking at the possibility that the fire may have been deliberately started.

Details of the dead woman, including her name, were not available.
