Fatal crash on Desert Road

The Desert Road in the central North Island has been closed following a fatal crash this morning.

Fire Service communications centre shift manager Mike Wanoa said emergency services were called about 7.40am after a car and truck collided on the Desert Road.

Mr Wanoa said at least one person had died in the crash.

Inspector Marty Parker of police communications said the Desert Rd was closed while emergency services were dealing with the crash. Diversions were in place.
