Fatal crash closes SH1 at Karapiro

One person is dead and part of State Highway 1 in Waikato has been closed this morning following a crash at Karapiro, 10km southeast of Cambridge.

Police said the head-on collision happened at the Fergusson Gully Rd intersection with the highway.

Diversions were put in place as emergency services cleared the scene and motorists were being warned of delays and advised to take alternate routes where possible.
