Fashion designers swap tasteful for tasty

Karen Walker whipped up the winning cocktail last night in a competition for Fashion Week designers.

Her entry, Minted Greenstone, mixed kiwifruit, lime, mint, feijoa-flavoured vodka and apple juice and was named the best of 10 entries by judges at Auckland's Hilton Hotel.

The fashion set watched as designers competed to shake up the best-presented and most flavoursome drink before judges, including NZ Idol's Paul Ellis and Herald Viva editor Michele Crawshaw.

Walker won a trip to Australian Fashion Week in Sydney, which follows the local Air New Zealand-sponsored event at Viaduct Harbour in October.

* Viva next Wednesday will feature the 10 designer cocktails recipes.

The Hilton's Bellini bar will also put the 10 entries on its cocktail menu during Fashion Week.
