FROM next Friday millions of dollars in goods ? gleaming above floors you could dance across and glowing beneath chandeliers ? will be on offer at the new Farmers Trading Company store in Masterton.
Retail staff yesterday wheeled into the Chapel Street building the first few racks of stock, drawn from
the four trading locations Farmers have occupied in Queen Street since August last year when the $5 million Mastermall development began.
Masterton store manager Molisa Marupi said the first phase of the store opening is timed for next Friday once final fitment touches are made and an extended range of stock, including designer clothing and furniture and electronics, are racked and ready to trade.
On Monday the development was handed from builders to shopfitters, he said.
By late July the refurbishment of the Farmers Queen Street frontage will be complete and the 4300sqm store, which features underground parking for 100 vehicles, will be officially opened.
"With the different stores during construction there has been a lot of walking and for some customers the journey could be so disruptive.
"People have been very patient with the process and have had to put up with a lot of inconvenience, but I really believe the wait will be worth it."
Mr Marupi said the new store is air-conditioned with lighting enhanced by chandeliers and wide aisles leading past showroom floors and specialist fittings designed for each retail area.
"It will be a total transformation from what was available before to a very metropolitan shopping experience with product ranges extended throughout to match the greater retail space.
