Fans of Moko the dolphin have been invited to share their stories about the friendly mammal for a documentary being shot in eastern Bay of Plenty by film student and marine biologist Amy Taylor.
"I'm keen to hear from surfers, sailors, fishermen, kids, local iwi, and anyone else who has
something to say," Miss Taylor said.
She said people could come along to Whakatane Yacht Club between 2pm and 4pm this Saturday to tell their five-minute stories, some of which will be featured in the documentary.
The meeting would be followed by Whakatane's first screening of 2009 best documentary Oscar-winner The Cove.
The documentary, filmed by anti-dolphin hunting activists is about the annual dolphin killing that takes place at Taiji, Japan.
Funds raised from the $10 movie tickets will go to the Save Japan's Dolphins fund, set up by the filmmakers.
Despite having to buy a new camera after hers was drenched by waves, Miss Taylor said her "Moko Doco" was coming along well.
She said she had shot around 30 hours of footage including Moko underwater and clips of people interacting with him, as well as interviews with key players.
Miss Taylor said she was looking for musicians and music producers to help her with the soundtrack.
