"He's played a significant role in lifting the level for boys' football in Auckland secondary schools - there's no doubt about that - and we wish him well for the future.''
Fallon has been involved with Mt Albert Grammar School's football teams and academy for 18 years rising to the post of director of football. His involvement has long been seen as central to the school's success in the sport.
Mr Burden said Mt Albert's first team players had been told of their coach's departure in person, while an email was later sent to parents.
The school's website has also announced Fallon's departure and said Paul Marshall had taken over as acting First XI coach and head of the football academy.
Mr Burden said: "We're now looking forward and moving on. We've appointed an acting coach, Mr Paul Marshall, who is a really well-respected New Zealand coach and he'll be taking on the acting role until a permanent appointment can be made towards the end of the school term.''
