All parents think their own children are the most beautiful. Now they have the chance to prove it.

A series of TV ads will feature 100 babies whose photos are most popular with the public.

Proud parents can take part in a competition by uploading a photo of their newborn to the Huggies website. Those who receive the most Facebook "likes" get a spot on TV.

Laker-Kaze Waiti is one of eight babies whose photo will feature in the first commercial on Wednesday.

His mother Kohle Rooney, 21, said her firstborn was photogenic from the start. "He's beautiful. He has big eyes - I think he got them from his father," she said.

The campaign is a joint initiative with Plunket. Spokeswoman Sally Elton said about 91 per cent of Kiwi babies have some form of internet presence.

Some have their photo posted to Facebook moments after they are born, via mobile uploads from the delivery suite.
