A former Eastern Bay of Plenty mayoral candidate has been charged with making secret "intimate recordings".
Pat Norris, 53, who bid to become mayor of Kawerau three years ago, faces five charges.
The case came up at Whakatane District Court yesterday but Norris instead appeared in Nelson, where he has
lived for some time, to sign a bail bond.
The charges related to recordings he allegedly made in June and July 2008.
As part of his bail conditions, Norris agreed he would not attempt to contact any of the five complainants.
He was remanded to appear in Whakatane District Court on June 2.
