Escaped Nelson prisoner still at large

A Nelson prisoner who escaped police custody yesterday is still at large.

Hayden Rangihuna has a thin build, is approximately 175 centimetres tall and has the name Silas tattooed on the back of his neck.

The 24-year-old was last seen wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and white Nike shoes with red laces.

Rangihuna who was in custody at the Nelson Court House on numerous charges, escaped using the identity of another prisoner who was being granted bail.

Senior Sergeant John Price says they request anyone information as to his whereabouts should urgently contact police.

However he says Rangihuna should not be approached.
