Emergency services work to free trapped driver after car crashes into building in West Auckland

A person is in hospital after crashing the car they were driving into a building in Henderson.

The crash happened on Central Park Dr at 6.55pm.

Northern fire communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said the driver was trapped in the car and firefighters had to cut the person free.

The person was taken to Waitakere Hospital for assessment but it wasn't clear how seriously they were injured.

The car has been towed from the scene and contractors have been called to take a look at the damaged building, a police spokeswoman said.
