Email scam targets Kiwibank customers

Another internet "phishing" scam is doing the rounds.

Emails purporting to be from Kiwibank were sent out early this morning telling recipients to go to a website to upgrade their online banking security.

The emails contain the bona fide Kiwibank logo and a link to a site which looks official but which actually uses the bogus address "kiwibahk.com". The real Kiwibank website is at kiwibank.co.nz

Kiwibank spokesman Bruce Thompson said staff are working on shutting down the fraudulent site.

He said people should never reply to emails asking for confidential details about their banking.
