Elderly woman dies after being struck by son's tractor

An elderly woman killed after being struck by a tractor and trailer driven by her son was last night named.

She was Doreen Eunice Brunton, 73. Mrs Brunton had opened a gate on a farm track at Mangateparu, near Morrinsville, on Wednesday night to drive her car through when she was struck.

Morrinsville police said Mrs Brunton was treated at the scene but died in an ambulance on the way to Waikato Hospital in Hamilton.

Police did not envisage anyone being charged over the death.
