Two elderly people were taken to hospital after their car collided with a police car in Addington, Christchurch this morning.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Lincoln Rd and Whiteleigh Ave at 9.26am.
The elderly passengers, a male and a female, suffered minor injuries and were taken by ambulance
to Christchurch Hospital as a precaution.
Christchurch police Sergeant Peter Daly said there was little damage to the police car, but the other vehicle suffered significant damage.
Mr Daly would not comment on who was to blame for the accident, but said the police vehicle was not involved in a chase.
"It is fair to say the other car turned across the path of the police car, which was driving straight through," he said.
