An elderly man has been picked up by rescue helicopter after he severely injured himself when his quad bike rolled.
The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter picked up the 79-year-old after he was transported from his home by ambulance to Whakatane Airport yesterday.
The man had multiple injuries from the quad bike
accident that happened in an orchard.
He was stabilised by St John paramedics before being flown to Tauranga Hospital.
