Save An elderly man has died in a house fire in Wainuiomata this morning.
Firefighters were called to the blaze at a flat in Burden Grove around 2am.
Once it was extinguished, crews searched the home and found the man, believed to be the sole occupant, deceased.
Extensive damage was caused
to the flat, which was one in a complex of six, police said.
A scene examination will be carried out this morning to determine the cause of the fire.
