Elderly man attacked in Hawkes Bay

An elderly man is in serious condition in Hawke's Bay Hospital after a violent attack in Napier.

The 76-year-old is being treated for a fractured neck, cuts to his head and bruising to his body.

Police were called to the man's Onekawa property around 7pm yesterday.

Officers are still at the house, conducting a scene examination.

A 44-year-old woman has been arrested and will appear in the Napier District Court today charged with assault.
