Eight protest against mining

Police were called to a protest outside Prime Minister Helen Clark's Mt Albert electorate office early yesterday afternoon, but made no arrests.

Witness Janine Hunter said a group of eight university students and environmentalists were campaigning against coal mining in the South Island.

Hunter, who works nearby, said it was one of the calmest protests she had seen outside the building in Sandringham Rd.
