Ellerslie's most fashionable punter was chosen for her "classic and effortless beauty" at today's Boxing Day Races Fashions in the Field event.
Talia Marshall, 33, pictured, was deemed the day's Supreme Award winner for her powder-blue vintage dress and colour-matched accessories, a mix of local and overseas finds.
The MtMaunganui lawyer said the last time she entered a race-day fashion competition was about 10 years ago. She hadn't expected to win. "I haven't entered something like this for ages but my friend encouraged me to get back into it."
She pipped that friend to the post for the Canvas Ladies Racewear win, but there were no hard feelings. The pair and their friends celebrated last night with a dinner together.
Judge and stylist Sammy Salsa said the Supreme winner came down to little details.
Marshall's clean silhouette and tastefully matching outfit stood out. "She was a classic beauty. It looked like it was effortless. I love the colour, it's beautiful and very in - not just in race wear but in fashion."
Marshall bought her dress from Vezzano Couture, a Melbourne vintage shop, and had her hat designed by Australian milliner Marilena Romeo.
She accessorised with a pair of matching blue shoes, handbag and a pair of delicate white gloves she found in a Tauranga vintage shop.
