The draw for next weekend's semi-final matches in the Wairarapa-Bush premier division rugby competition was confirmed after the last round of preliminary rounds on Saturday.
Competition leaders and defending champions East Coast will play fourth seeds Greytown at their Whareama headquarters while second seeds Masterton Red Star will host third seeds
Martinborough at Memorial Park in Masterton.
Going into Saturday's games East Coast and Masterton Red Star had already guaranteed themselves semi-final berths but as many as five other teams were battling for the other two spots.
Martinborough ensured they cemented their place in the top four by tipping over East Coast 19-10 in the highlight to their old timer's celebrations at Martinborough and Greytown continued their late rally with a commanding 29-5 thumping of Pioneer at the latter's Jean street grounds in Masterton.
The third of Saturday's matches which could have played a key role in the make-up of the semi-finals was that between Gladstone and Marist at Gladstone but, as it happened, results of other games meant it became of little consequence in that respect.
However, Gladstone did mark the opening of their two completed light towers and old timer' day in grand style with a 36-15 win while in the other two premier division games which were never going to have any effect on the semis Masterton Red Star edged out Puketoi 19-10 and Eketahuna hammered Carterton 36-3.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day though was the manner in which Greytown made short work of Pioneer in a match which was expected to be a tense, close encounter.
The demolition act by Greytown was marked by their efficiency in all phases of the game.
Their forwards had the edge in the set pieces of scrum and lineout and were a class above their opposition in the loose, thanks largely to an outstanding individual performance by flanker Tommy Sargent.
He made several punishing bursts through the course of the match and was equally as assertive on the tackle.
No.8 Johnny Avatea was another Greytown forward to keep close to the action and also impressing were the experienced Norm Henricksen, who was clearly the best lineout forward on the paddock, and Brett Aitken.
The Greytown backs were well marshalled by astute playmaker Lawrence Matthews at first-five.
He seldom failed to find clear spaces with his tactical kicking and he linked cleverly with his outsides in attacking situations.
Midfielders Julian Cosgrove and Senoa Issac also had strong games.
Pioneer simply lacked the urgency which is usually a trademark of their play.
A couple of promising youngsters in Ihe Namana and Lee Ewe at least showed some aggression up front and older hands in Robbie Rimene and Joe Papaali stood out in a backline which got few chances to strut their stuff.
Brett Aitken, Tavita Isaac, Senoa Isaac and Johnny Avatea (2) scored tries for Greytown and Senoa Isaac kicked two conversions.
Pioneer's only reply was a try to A.Kuru-Henare.
Martinborough's 19-10 victory over East Coast was not altogether unexpected for, of the two teams, they certainly had the greater incentive to produce the goods.
Eli Telford, Daniel George and Greg Wilson scored their tries and Wilson also kicked three conversions.
Zeb Aporo scored a try for East Coast and Nick Olson kicked one penalty and one conversion.
Hard-running back Dave Drummond made a huge impact on Gladstone's match with Marist, scoring a hat-trick of tries for a Gladstone side which had the better of the forward exchanges and measured up well to Marist in the backs.
James Goodger, Murray Gleeson and Adam Wichman scored tries for Marist.
Eketahuna ran in six tries in their 36-3 beating of Carterton.
Sully Alsop, Chris Terry, John Guillard, S.Evans, Joe Hull, and Graeme Cremen were the try scorers and Cremen also kicked three conversions.
Reece Lett kicked a penalty for Carterton.
Flanker Chris Senior scored two tries for Masterton Red Star in their 19-10 win over Puketoi.
Heemi Tupaea also scored a try and Byron Karaitiana kicked two conversions.
Simon Finney scored Puketoi's try and Bambry kicked one conversion and one penalty.

Competition points at the end of the two preliminary rounds were:
East Coast 65, Masterton Red Star 63, Martinborough 52, Greytown 50, Gladstone 48, Pioneer 47, Marist 45, Carterton 28, Eketahuna 21, Puketoi 10.
