Early morning Rongotea e-bike crash leaves cyclist dead

A person has died after a crash on an electric bike in Manawatū.

Police were called to a single-vehicle crash involving an electric bicycle on Banks Rd, Rongotea at about 12.40am.

“Sadly, the rider died at the scene,” police said.

“The Serious Crash Unit conducted a scene examination, and the road has now reopened.”

Rongotea is a small rural village in the Manawatū district, about 19km northwest of Palmerston North.
