United Future Leader Peter Dunne says his row with Matt Robson is over now the former Progressive MP has formally apologised to Parliament.
The ex-MP was ordered to offer an unqualified apology to Mr Dunne after he accused him of being in the pocket of the liquor and tobacco industries in his email newsletter.
Mr Robson was hauled before the privileges committee, which he once chaired, after being accused of breaking Parliament's rules.
Today his apology over his comments on Mr Dunne's voting record was delivered to MPs via Speaker Margaret Wilson.
Mr Dunne told Parliament he appreciated Mr Robson's comments and now regarded the matter as closed.
Last year, Mr Robson appeared before the privileges committee and apologised for any offence caused.
The committee's report said that while he had expressed regret it was not satisfied the apology was unqualified and ordered him to try again.
Mr Robson, who originally entered Parliament as an Alliance MP, was chairman of the privileges committee between 2002 and 2005.
He lost his seat as a Progressive list MP at the last election.
