Information from the public helped lead police to a Port Chalmers address where the male and female were arrested around 1.40am this morning.
The pair will appear in the Dunedin Youth Court in due course on charges of assault with intent to injure.
“What’s taken place is a cowardly attack, and doesn’t represent what our community stands for,” Crawford said.
“We saw members of the public determined to help someone in need, and they have our thanks.”
Police inquiries are ongoing and anyone with further information on the incident is urged to contact them on 105 and quote P064914742.
