Drug arrests follow armed raid

This barefoot man (left) was arrested during an armed offenders squad callout north of Wellington yesterday morning.

The armed police were executing a search warrant at a Paraparaumu car wreckers' yard.

They faced no resistance in searching the property.

Police spokeswoman Victoria Davis said two men were arrested on minor drugs charges and would appear in the Porirua District Court.

Witnesses said that a woman who arrived at the site during the raid tried to flee from the police and was stopped.

However, she was not arrested.
