Wairarapa drivers did "alright" on the roads over the long weekend, Wairarapa police say.
Despite starting with two crashes, Masterton police Sergeant Chris Megaw said most were well-behaved on the roads.
The weekend started with a car landing on its roof after a driver allegedly took a Masterton level crossingat "considerable" speed, and on Saturday a street race near Clareville ended when a high performance car hit a fence and burst into flames.
Both crashes resulted in only minor injuries.
"We'll monitor the traffic coming home, but there has been no noticeable increase through our area with extra traffic, it seems to be business as usual. That's how we like it," Mr Megaw said.
With 12 hours until the official end of the road toll Mr Megaw said he didn't want to speak too soon - "but we have done alright."
The national road toll for Labour Weekend, as at last night, was seven - last year eight people died and 17 suffered serious injuries in road crashes.
Mr Megaw said the long weekend was also business as usual in other policing matters. There were nine alcohol-related arrests over the weekend, and several others for minor charges.
