Driver who crashed into power pole seriously injured

A man has been rescued after being "severely trapped" after crashing into a power pole in Auckland this evening.

Diversions are in place after emergency services were called to the scene at Point View Dr, Dannemora about 7.45pm.

A St John ambulance spokeswoman said one person was seriously injured and was "severely trapped".

Fire services used the jaws of life to free the person from the car.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, said a fire spokesman.

Another person suffered moderate injuries in the crash.

The serious crash unit are investigating.
