A driver has been freed after being trapped in a truck by live power lines in Wellington this morning.
Police say the truck crashed into a power pole on Benmore Cres in Manor Park, Lower Hutt, about 8.50am, bringing down the live wires.
Emergency services waited for electricity workers to
turn off the power. The driver stayed inside the truck to avoid being electrocuted.
The power was eventually turned off and the driver was out of the cab by 10.30am.
A police spokeswoman said traffic on nearby State Highway 2 was not disrupted.
