One person has died this morning after crashing their car into a tree in the South Island.
Police were called to the single vehicle crash on SH 94 in Te Anau at 12.42am.
A police spokesman said the sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene.
One lane of
the road is open and delays are expected in the area this morning while the scene is cleared.
The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
