South Wairarapa Mayor Adrienne Staples will officially open the new Greytown to Woodside walking and cycle trail on Monday.
The Greytown-Woodside Trail is a 5km route through farmlands, offering beautiful scenic views and following the historic branch rail line which closed in the 1950s.
The trail was created during thepast three years by the Greytown Trails Trust and local volunteers with the support of local businesses.
Stage one was officially opened on November 6, 2011, and the recent completion of stage two has given the local community a new recreational resource.
Mayor Staples will officially open the trail at 11.20am at Woodside Station and all are welcome.
Planned activities and attractions on Sunday will include a fun vintage costume cycle, the Tweed Run and a sausage sizzle.
The public is invited to dress up in vintage clothes for the fun cycle and special guest Ms Staples will be on hand to judge the best costumes in the Tweed Run. There will even be a category for "best dressed dog on a leash".
Greytown Lions is running a sausage sizzle and there will be other refreshments along the way.
