A lighting consultant from Hamilton has won the Dream Team Fantasy Super Rugby game, claiming a $24,000 prize to South Africa to see the All Blacks play the Springboks at Ellis Park in Johannesburg.
Rhonda Nickel was the clear winner at the end of the Super 15 series having expertlyselected the best "dream teams" across the virtual game every week. The 36-year-old mother-of-one called the prize a "once-in-a-lifetime win".
It was the first season Miss Nickel entered the online challenge run by the Herald so it was as much a surprise to her as it was to family and friends when she won the first round.
Miss Nickel is a Chiefs supporter and rugby fan.
She planned to take fiance Regan Hall, who works for the Chiefs, and her parents on the week-long trip at the end of September.
A new game beginning tomorrow at dreamteam.co.nz will let punters choose a dream team from the All Blacks, Australia, South Africa and Argentina squads. First prize is $3000.
