Doubts over arbitration in teachers dispute

Ministry of Education and teachers' union negotiators are pinning their hopes on non-binding arbitration to put a quick end to the 15-month industrial dispute between secondary teachers and the Government.

But PPTA head Jen McCutcheon said the so-called "alternative dispute resolution" seemed like a cynical attempt to diffuse industrial action before the election. Further rostering home of secondary school students is due to start on Wednesday.
