Dotcom's promises to prospective MPs

Kim Dotcom is offering to pay the salaries of his Internet Party candidates in the run-up to the election.

The multi-millionaire internet mogul has posted an advert in newspapers today, headlined: Prime Minister Wanted.

He outlines what he expects from successful candidates to join his fledging political party.

And in some Tweets posted this morning, the Megaupload founder revealed that his candidates will "earn the salary of an MP immediately".

"Only the #InternetParty pays its candidates an MP salary before they are even elected. Like to join?" Dotcom wrote on Twitter this morning.

He said he wants to attract "top leadership talent".

In the advertisement, he says successful candidates will be required to "recognise New Zealand as a nation with an economy, not merely a trading room".

Dotcom goes on to say his candidates will need to "empower all citizens - not just spy agencies", and to "stop selling our stuff in general".

The deadline for applications is May 14.

Dotcom was arrested in January 2012 after a controversial raid on his Auckland mansion by New Zealand police working with the FBI.

The American authorities accuse him of criminal copyright infringement in relation to his Megaupload website.

Dotcom denies the charges and is fighting the attempt to extradite him to the United States.
