Donald's funeral to be relayed to public

Loudspeakers will relay the funeral service for Rod Donald to crowds expected outside Christ Church Cathedral today.

Dean Peter Beck will lead the 10.30am service, which will include some of Mr Donald's favourite music played on CD, plus songs and dances by members of Christchurch's Zimbabwean community, with which Mr Donald had developed a close rapport.

After the funeral, Mr Donald's coffin will be carried to the nearby Baillies Bar for a public "wake". The family will then take it to a private interment.
