Dog tied until neck grew into chain

Leaving a dog tied up until the chain grew into its neck has cost a Rotorua woman $1180.

Hinengaro Enoka was fined in Rotorua District Court after admitting she failed to provide for the needs of her sharpei, Missy, the Daily Post newspaper reported.

The SPCA found a new home for Missy, but Enoka avoided a ban on owning pets and her family had acquired a new dog which was being treated better, her lawyer said.
