A dog attack on a Waiuku boy this week is being investigated.
Lorenzo Shoemark received four large bite marks on his face and ear when the family dog of his best friend attacked him on Easter Monday. The owners of the dog had it put down the same day.
AucklandCouncil animal management manager Geoff Keber confirmed to the New Zealand Herald that it was investigating and speaking to both parties.

He also praised Lorenzo's mum, Natalia Shoemark, for teaching her son how to react when approached by dogs. Mrs Shoemark said she had taught Lorenzo to never run from a dog and believed that helped save him from more serious injury.
The animal management team also provided education to schools and others on how to stay safe around dogs. Anyone who wanted to know more should phone the council on (09) 301 0101.
