Labour Leader Jacinda Ardern was positive and confident as she delivered updates on coaliton talks with New Zealand First, saying that the talks could produce 'a government I'd be proud to lead.' / New Zealand Labour Party
Has Jacinda Ardern given a clue to who will lead our next Government?
The Labour leader posted a video update to the party's YouTube channel on Friday, telling supporters the coalition talks had been robust and a resulting Government would be one she'd be proud to lead.
Not so fastthough, said a sharp-eyed poster on Reddit's New Zealand thread.
"Go to 1:14 of this video sent out by Jacinda today to find out who our new PM will be," Reddit user camoshka posted this afternoon.
It's a subtle wink by Ardern, as she says that "for now, we've got that little wait on our hands", that sparked excitement on Reddit.
"The wink says it. She's won!," camoshka posts later.
Ardern, the real National Party leader, Bill English, and the rest of the country must wait for Winston Peters and his New Zealand First party to decide who will be in Government for the next three years.
The main party leaders have a weekend of nervous waiting while staff coordinate over the details of the two packages that will be taken to the New Zealand First board and caucus for a decision on Monday.
