BRIGHT SPARK

It can be tricky coming up with just the right white, let alone a complementary colour scheme that works throughout your interiors, from room to room. Auckland architectural colourist Peta Tearle's new Colours with Love online kits look set to take the angst out of what can be a long and involved process, with sometimes less-than-appealing results.

Simply visit Peta's online store, pick one of the 24 heart-shaped palettes that you are most drawn to and purchase the corresponding boxed set of 10 paint colour cards that can be mixed and matched to work harmoniously together, no matter how many or few you choose to use from the pack.

My intention is always for my clients to love the space they live in," says Peta, who has worked in colour design on commercial and residential projects for 25 years.

"I really love the beauty that results from placing colours that combine well alongside one another. My palettes mean people can make their own colour combinations with confidence, and allow them to select from an emotional point of view with flexibility, creativity and individuality.

"One of my favourite quotes about colour is from an architect who says: 'Paint it white and sleep at night'. But one of the toughest dilemmas faced when selecting colours for interiors is which white? Each of my palettes has at least one white to take the guesswork out and confidently coexist with any of the other colours in the pack."

Each boxed set of 10 (125mm x 125mm) Colour with Love cards costs $90 and comes with instructions, paint names and brands used and a grey "isolator" card to help give a true reading of each colour. Pictured above, cards from the Fresh and Flirty palette.
