A dentist has to face professional misconduct charges over indecent assault claims following a majority ruling by the Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice, Dame Sian Elias, was a dissenting voice on the court's decision that the dentist, whose name and location are suppressed, should appear before the DentistsDisciplinary Tribunal, even though the incidents have already been subject to a criminal trial.
The dentist was acquitted in the district court in 2002 of indecent assault against three patients.
A dental complaints assessment committee later investigated the dentist's conduct on those occasions and a separate complaint and brought charges of professional misconduct.
