A man injured in a fall at Speight's Brewery earlier this week has died.
Ralph Ashenhurst, 48, of Port Chalmers, died in Dunedin Hospital about 11am yesterday from injuries received, Southern District Command Centre deployment co-ordinator Senior Sergeant Brian Benn, of Dunedin, said.
The death would be referred to thecoroner, he said.
Mr Ashenhurst fell at 9am on Monday at the brewery in Rattray St.
It is understood he was working on a decommissioned lift in the brewery.
Robert Cameron, managing director Kone Elevators Australia & New Zealand, the company for which Mr Ashenhurst was working as a subcontractor, said he could not comment about the incident as it was being investigated by WorkSafe New Zealand.
Mr Ashenhurst's family had asked for privacy, he said.
A WorkSafe New Zealand spokesman confirmed it was investigating the incident.
