A man who died after a single vehicle crash in Waitakere City last night was a teenager driving a stolen station wagon.
The 18-year-old man drove round a bend too fast, clipped the kerb and rolled off the road, said Sergeant Stu Kearns, officer in charge of the serious crash unit.
Three female passengers in the vehicle were unhurt.
"It's very early days in our investigation. We have to carry out a vehicle inspection before we're able to finalise anything," Mr Kearns added.
The man's name has not yet been released, as all next of kin are yet to be informed.
Emergency services were called to the crash on La Rosa St in suburban Green Bay shortly after 8pm, police northern communications Inspector Ian Brooker said.
The police serious crash unit was continuing its investigations.
