David Bain gets Supreme Court lifeline

David Bain's lawyers have been thrown something of a lifeline by the Supreme Court today

This morning the Supreme Court heard an application from Michael Reed QC to have new evidential matters included in any retrial, which is scheduled to begin next week.

A decision on whether or not the retrial will go ahead is expected on Friday.

In the meantime, Mr Reed and his defence team will be able to appeal an earlier decision by the High Court which excluded the new evidence from any retrial

That appeal will take place on Wednesday.
