Dangerous escaped prisoner still on run

A dangerous prisoner who escaped from Auckland central police station last week is in hiding, police say.

Heath Matehare escaped from the station at 11.20am Friday.

He should not be approached, but anyone who saw him should call police immediately, a police spokeswoman said.

Matehare was a solidly built Maori, 183cm tall. He was last seen wearing a white long sleeve top under a black t-shirt with white writing on the front and dark jeans.

Matehare had been arrested in connection with a domestic violence incident.
