All Blacks great Dan Carter has appeared in a short video alongside a host of other high-profile Kiwis encouraging New Zealanders to vote for change in the upcoming flag referendum.
The video, produced by campaign group Change the NZ Flag, argues it is time for change and that our present
flag is outdated, embarrassingly similar to Australia's and doesn't represent New Zealand as a country.
Campaign chairman and former National Party candidate for the Rimutaka electorate Lewis Holden said he was struck by the passion of the famous New Zealanders who have joined the campaign, including Silver Fern Maria Tutaia, New Zealander of the year finalist Rob Fenwick and Wellington Mayor Celia Wade-Brown.
"Though the polls show we're the underdogs, we've got a great team that's prepared to advocate for change and explain why having a new flag makes sense economically, culturally and internationally."
Mr Holden said a recent poll of 1000 people by Curia Research showed support for the new flag was growing, while support for the old flag had dropped to 56 per cent from a high of 69 per cent last September.
