Dalefield will have at least one thing in their favour when they take on Harbour City in a Wellington premier division men's hockey fixture at the National Hockey Stadium in Wellington tomorrow - they know they are capable of beating their opposition.
Harbour City are on 17 points fromfive wins, two draws and five losses and have a far better overall record than Dalefield, who have four points from one win, one draw and 10 losses.
However, the two previous meetings between the sides this season have produced a win apiece - 2-1 to Harbour City in the first round and 3-2 to Dalefield in the second.
But the loss of star striker Dion Field, who is now in Australia, has weakened Dalefield's attacking strengths and they are currently struggling to convert their scoring opportunities into goals.
In the 8-1 loss to University last weekend, for instance, Dalefield got themselves into scoring positions on numerous occasions but only finished with the one goal to show for their efforts.
The excellence of University goalkeeper, Black Stick Kyle Pointifax, was obviously a key component.
But his workload was lightened by Dalefield's inability to string passes together when it mattered.
