Cyclist in hospital after collision in North Dunedin

A cyclist has been taken to hospital after a collision with a car in North Dunedin this evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene near the entrance to the Dunedin Botanic Garden, on the corner of Great King St and North Rd, about 5.30pm.

They treated the cyclist, believed to have a leg injury, for about 20 minutes.

The cyclist was then taken to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance.

Earlier today, a man was seriously injured in a crash involving a cyclist and a truck in Wellington.

The collision happened on Hutt Rd, between Petone and Wellington, about 4.40am.

An ambulance communications spokesman said a man in his mid-50s was taken to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition.
