A cyclist is in a critical condition after an incident on Auckland’s Tāmaki Drive.

Emergency services were called about 3pm after reports a cyclist was injured.

“The cyclist has been taken to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition,” police said.

Police confirmed no vehicles were involved.

Traffic along Tāmaki Drive was delayed while emergency services attended but is now moving again.

“Expect delays as the backlog clears this afternoon,” police said.

“Emergency services appreciate motorists’ understanding while our work was carried out at the scene.”

Hato Hone St John said it was notified of the incident at 3.10pm and responded with one ambulance and two rapid response vehicles.

“One person was assessed at the scene and transported to Auckland City Hospital in a critical condition.”
