Cyclist, 14, seriously injured after being hit by car in Raglan

A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car while riding his bike in Raglan.

Waikato police Senior Sergeant Mike Henwood said the crash occurred on Upper Cross St about 9.15pm.

He suffered injuries to his head, face, leg, wrist and back.

The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called and landed at the nearby rugby club grounds. The boy was stabilised before being flown to Waikato Hospital.

He was due to have surgery overnight.
