CTV building inquiry report delayed

A protracted Canterbury Earthquakes Royal Commission hearing into the CTV Building collapse has delayed the release of its final report.

The royal commission has had its deadline for filing its third and final part of its report extended by 18 days to November 30, Attorney-General Christopher Finlayson announced today.

He said the hearing into the collapse of the CTV Building, which claimed 115 lives, took longer than expected.

Part three of the final report, which includes the CTV findings, is also longer than expected so final administrative matters such as proof-reading and printing will take longer than expected.

Part three will also address other aspects of the terms of reference which have not already been covered in part one of the final report, which was delivered on June 29, and part two of the final report - delivered on October 10.

Once the last part of the report is delivered, the governor-general will give it to the Government who will decide when and how it is publicly released.
