Police warn public as wanted man Nigel Edwards sought over Papakura firearms incident

Police are searching for a dangerous man wanted for arrest in relation to a firearms incident in South Auckland that seriously injured someone.

Police said they are seeking information on the whereabouts of 41-year-old Nigel Edwards.

Police said emergency services were called to reports of a person injured on Marne Rd, Papakura, about 3pm on March 8.

Armed police attended out of caution.

Police said they have made a number of inquiries to find Edwards over the past week.

“Edwards is actively avoiding police, and the public should consider him dangerous.

“Do not approach him,” police said.

Photos from the scene showed police officers standing guard outside a taped-off house on Marne Rd, while another officer stood next to a long driveway.

Police advised anyone to call police on 111 if they have seen Edwards.

“Information on his whereabouts can also be provided to police via 105 using the reference number 260308/7975,” police said.
